"LUCINDALE IS A SMALL DYNAMIC COMMUNITY WITH A BIG HEART"
The town is situated in the centre of the Limestone Coast Region of the Southeast of South Australia, approximately half way between Naracoorte and Kingston (S.E.). It has a population of just under 500 people. The main industries are beef cattle and sheep with some viticulture and plantation tree farming.
We are also very orientated towards the tourist, with beautiful scenery, historic buildings, nearby State Forests, picturesque Caravan Park, and large parklands in the centre of the town for picnics and barbeques. There is a Country Club on the outskirts of the town with an 18 hole Golf Course and Camping area.
The town also hosts the Southeast Field Days and the Great Southern Muster each year at Yakka Park, a large complex setup by the Lucindale Lions Club to cater for any type of function. we have 25,000 people visit our little town over the 2 days of the Field Days in March.
The National Caravan Rally was held at Yakka Park in Jan 2005 with around 1000 people catered for over a one week period.
The Museum is situated on Railway Terrace, just east of the end of the main street of Lucindale. It is operated by a small group of volunteers who work tirelessly to restore and display the history of the district. The Historical Society is assisted by the Naracoorte Lucindale District Council and many local community groups and businesses.
